Broken Blush Fix-It! My Experience

Hello all!

A couple of years ago I had a friend who went to beauty school and she one day told me that I could repair my broken blush. She said all you need is rubbing alcohol. It was unbelievable to me and I didn't even try it because I really didn't believe it! Of course I have seen this on Pinterest since then many times and one of my favorite blushes had broken awhile ago so I decided to try it finally. I took pictures every step of the way to share my experience!

Here is the blush as it was when I first started:

I crushed all of the blush so it would be semi leveled when I put the rubbing alcohol in. I figured it wouldn't hold together well in these large chunks. To do this I used the handle of the spoon I would later use to try and smooth over the blush. I put saran wrap over the top of the blush and crush-crush-crushed it to this powder.

Then I took my 70% Isopropyl Alcohol and made sure the powder was completely covered and then a little more. After the powder was completely wet I put saran wrap back on top and smoothed (at least  tried to smooth over) the top of the blush. Hoping that when it dried it would look nice and pretty like when I first got it! I didn't do great but it's better than when I first began! Here is when I took the saran wrap off after trying to smooth it over.

Now all there was to do was wait! It takes awhile for the alcohol to evaporate and blush to dry. Here is a picture about it 12 hours in. I was upset to see the cracking because other pictures I had seen didn't have this problem. I wonder if it's the type of rubbing alcohol I used?

Another 12 hours later it pretty much looked the exact same, but it didn't look or feel as creamy/wet.

After I decided it was completely dry I used a baby wipe to clean up the edges and all over to make it look nice and pretty on the outside.

And here is the final product!

All-in-all I am very happy with the outcome. Cracks aside, (actually, even including the cracks) it looks much, much better than before I decided to try this! It looks nicer inside and out, it doesn't spill out whenever I try to use it, and I can travel with it! The blush goes on just the same and is the same color as when I first got it. A deep, plum color that I love for fall/winter. I took a picture but the lighting is poor. You can see it in the middle of my cheeks.

If you have broken powders that you love and fear getting rid of I think this is a great way to bring them back to life!

Have you tried this? What are your experiences?

Love,

Marlee

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Hey guys! this is my first review and it is on one of my favorite products! i LOVE Too Faced makeup and have been wearing it forever. I remember buying one of their mascaras when i was 16 or 17 and i died! I thought i was so special. So how funny that I am doing my first review on one as well!

Today I am bringing you their Better Than Sex mascara and i LOVE this product!

This is the box it comes in. it is quite a large box! the picture on the front does a good job representing what your lashes look like after you have applied the mascara. I remember when i first got this and i thought it was heavy. The box i mean! i knew it would be quality. Here is what the tube looks like.

It's kind of bulky but i love it. It is sleek and pink is one of my favorite colors! But it's not an annoying pink, totally classy! I know this is weird, but one of my favorite parts of this mascara is the wand and what you hold. It is heavy and easy to control. Sometimes i feel like my hand goes all over the place but i like how it's "weighted" so i can control my movements better.

A major part of this mascara is the hourglass shaped bristles. It does a really good job of covering all parts of your eyelashes. It doesn't go on too thick, and it's not hard to get off! Some mascaras i have are not waterproof but still incredibly hard to get off. This mascara does not flake throughout the day and holds curl well.

Here are a couple of pictures of my lashes before application:

I do two or three coats, depending on my mood, plans for the day, etc.

Here is the aftermath!

Do you love it?! I sure do! Its not too thick, too clumpy or anything! I don't usually curl my lashes and didn't in this picture but i have and it's still great! I did two coats. Also, if you didn't notice, i don't usually put mascara on my bottom lashes. I think just putting them on the top really opens up your eyes.

Overall i am in love with this mascara and highly recommend it to everyone! It retails for $23.00 and you can get it on the Too Faced website.

Let me know what you think!

Come again :)

A New Addition

Hello all!
This is my first blog post EVER! I am very excited to begin my journey in the blogging world. My name is Marlee. I am a Special Education teacher in Arizona and I absolutely love it. I am a recent college graduate from Purdue University and I made the move to Arizona with my boyfriend and dog to begin a new chapter in my life! In addition to being a first year teacher 2,000 miles away from my home state of Indiana, i wanted to try other new things... blogging being one of them! I have always been interested in makeup and as i got older i developed an extreme love for trying new things, collecting new items, and really exploring the huge varieties in the beauty world. I am hoping that with this blog i can share some of my thoughts, ideas, insights, etc. with others who share the same interest i have. If there is anything in particular you would like to see me share or review leave a comment! I am very excited to begin this and check back frequently for new posts!
